Feel More Connected than Ever

Along with the obvious gain in length and reduction in width, the hull shape has been optimized for even greater efficiency at takeoff. While this comes at the cost of some of the incredible ease of use the Flux is known for, it provides the ability to further downsize your board without any loss of low end.

For wingers, the boards are designed to be ridden around 55% of bodyweight in kg and paired with a mid length for very light wind days or simply riders who surf foil or mountain bike when it's blowing 10 knots! Despite this, prepare for your crew to be shocked at just how light of wind you'll be getting on foil with such a small board.

Prone Foil Excellence: Work Less, Ride More

Dedicated prone foilers will find themselves sizing up a few liters from their standard board and enjoying the increased paddling speed. The construction and shape provide a responsive and nimble feel with smooth touchdown recovery at any angle of impact with the water. The wide point has been pushed further forward to make pop ups more stable than one would expect given the dimensions.

The combination of touchdown recovery, responsiveness, and low centre of gravity during water starts will have you feeling like a hero in the wildest conditions.

Zero-rocker through the standing area of the deck and a slightly more aggressive concave than the Flux provides a comfortable and locked in feeling while riding strapless.

Despite the narrower hull design, careful dimensioning of the standing area along with a full coverage deck pad ensures heel and toe pressure is effectively translated into powerful signals to your foil.

Similar to the Flux, the Emissary is perfectly suited to both wing and prone foiling.

Our philosophy is that regardless of the power source used to get on foil, the parameters of a great wave foil board remain the same. So rather than a compromised design the Emissary is the perfect two in one.

Non-Linear Scaling

Each size has been engineered to fit a specific weight of rider, rather than the more versatile size range of the Flux. Those around or under 150lbs should consider the 35L, 140 - 190lbs the 44L, and 170 - 225lbs the 55L. The driving factor for the width of each board is to maintain just enough deck space for the ideal stance to ensure uncompromised control over high aspect foils during critical turns. For this reason, the rail shape at the top of the board has been sharpened and the deck pad extends as far out as possible.

For those familiar with the Flux, you can size down one level in the Emissary (60L -> 55L, 48L -> 44L, 40L -> 35L) for an all round performance improvement at the expense of a more demanding learning curve. The 55L is also an excellent all rounder/one board quiver for smaller riders.

Made in the EU

The Emissary is built to last. The Appletree factory in Portugal applies a full carbon layup over a CNC cut closed-cell foam core. Vacuum resin infusion technology is used to saturate the cloth and achieve the ideal fiber to resin ratio to optimize stiffness and durability.

This process is what allows Appletree to create a permanent bond to their proprietary foam core, and uniquely results in a board that will not be damaged by water ingress - even if the outer skin is damaged.

Ready to take it to the next level?

Ladies (but Gents too) if you are comfortable on a 60L +/-board (which I think many of us are after being on the water for the past 3 years) and looking to make the jump to the next level of your winging ability, you may appreciate this review.

I am 5'7" 130lbs (in a bikini) and a decades long windsurfer. I wasn't looking to go to a small board I just wanted to get more action in the waves and wanted to look at more sporty board shapes. After using the sizing tool, talking to Greg (way to many times) and putting more thought into this than I did in having children- I went with the recommended 5' Emissary. Yes, it is 44L and about 75% buoyancy (my knees are about 2-3" underwater on the back end of the board when I am balancing to stand up) but don't get hung up on the volume and stick with focusing on the length comparison to what you are riding now when you make your decision, you'll get what I mean once you get comfortable on it.

The first weekend I went from 2-3 tries getting up each time in "iffy wind" to 1-2 times in both the ebb and flood (we are in the delta). Once you get the balance and have the slightest amount of forward momentum the board planes effortlessly. With the narrower board you are only balancing the pitch (front and back)- no longer also the roll (side to side) as you do with the wider boards. It turns on a dime with change to spare and foot switches are automatic (there are less choices where to put your feet, so it is easier). It carves super easily and is so fun!

You will love this board if you go into the new partnership with an open mind and give yourself a little time.

11 out of 10 stars I'm blown away

I got the 66l for my 195lb self for winging and DW trash bagging. This board is amazing. I came off an Axis 75l board and ride the swell in the gorge. I'm blown away at how efficient this board is as it gets up and goes when I'd be slogging and paddling back to shore on my old board. It literally adds the equivalent of 10mph in wind range to my bottom end, so that I can get up on a 790cm foil with a 4 meter at 11 mph wind. The narrow width allows for harder turns on the swell and it rides like a dream. I'm blown away. If I was solely winging and not contemplating getting into parawinging I'd probably have gone with the 55l version. This design is incredible and to have it with closed cell foam is an added plus as dings happen and the other boards suck up water like sponges.

Emissary delivers!

I’m 85 kg and live on Oahu, where winds can be fickle—long lulls followed by punchy gusts. I was looking for a reliable all-around board that could handle everything, and the Emissary has delivered. I’m a winger who prefers smaller wings and smaller foils whenever possible, and this board gives me the range to do that, even in lighter conditions.

I went with the 55L knowing I’d need a few extra seconds to get going in light wind compared to my 48L Flux, which tends to sink out before I can catch another gust. The Emissary gives me that cushion—it pops up easily and feels stable and responsive once I’m up. If our winds were consistently consistent, I think the 44L would’ve been the sweet spot for me.

The tail is more tapered than the flux, which means I’m not touching water mid-carve, and there’s no drag slowing me down. The design keeps the nose from sticking on touchdowns too. Instead of sinkkng, it just bounces back up. It’s smooth, playful, and super forgiving.

I also added the foot strap inserts, and I’m glad I did. I don’t notice any added weight, and I like the ability to lock in—especially when winging in surf or just pushing harder through turns.

The Emissary has become my go-to board. It’s dependable in all kinds of conditions, and I’m really happy with the choice.

Upgrading from Omen Flux 60 to Emissary 55

I recently upgraded from my previous Omen Flux 60 liter board (after using it for nearly 3 seasons at about 150 days riding/season) to a 55 liter Omen Emissary.

I was a bit hesitant downsizing my board, I used the 60 liter as an all rounder (both light and heavy conditions) and wanted to do the same with the new 55 liter Emissary. For reference, my weight is 93kg.

I found that I had no issues switching over from the Flux to the Emissary, I was able to easily launch after the first attempt.

My first session, I found that the 55 liter Emissary board (compared to the 60 liter Flux) was a bit more “twitchy” and reacted to the slightest foot movements quicker than my Flux. Once I got used to that, I was able to step up my riding and go into my turns and on the swell more aggressively. Most likely because the Emissary is narrower than the Flux.

I probably had about 25 days of riding on the 55 Emissary so far and have tested it in all conditions, light wind (under 13 knots) to heavy wind (30-45 knots) and have loved it! As long as my wing is powered up, I am able to launch just fine. If it’s a bit gusty or light, I sit on my board and wait for the gust which is no problem for me. Compared to the 60 liter Flux, the Flux was a bit easier to launch on lighter and/or gustier wind conditions (when under powered) but the performance of the 55 Emissary was worth the upgrade!

As far as riding swell, much nicer than the Flux. Any touch down, I bounce right off the water.

If you are considering the upgrade from the Flux to the Emissary, it is worth it!

Emissary 55L - Perfection

I feel like I've found the perfect board.
I'm an intermediate winger and coming from kite-foiling have always appreciated being on a smaller board.
Prior to the Emissary I had the Jazz 62.5L and most recently the 70L Slice v3.
For my riding and 78Kg weight the 70L Slice was a one board quiver but I felt like I could benefit from a bit longer/narrower and wanted to go less volume, especially in the rougher days. Was a little unsure about the low end with 55L but wow!

I've only ridden the board a few days now, low end of my 4.5m to high end on my 3.5m with an AFS Silk 1050. Initial impressions:
- As long as there is a little wind in the wing and the board is moving it is very stable
- Once moving a few hand pumps and my speed is almost enough to get on foil, maybe a few more pumps or leg pumps and I'm flying
- Any touchdowns are a non issue, even at speed
- It feels like I have the same low end as my 70L

There was no adjustment period at all ... first go on the board I was flying, felt natural, like I'd been riding it forever.
